Pegasus is going to Hawaii!
Posted on Sunday, February 23rd, 2014
Do you remember in my last BLOG when I said I had a secret? You do? Great!
Now I can finally reveal the great news….. PEGASUS IS COMING BACK!
That’s right. I am so thrilled to announce that I have been contracted to write Pegasus 5 & 6!!! And even as I write this, I have started Pegasus 5. At this point, there is no agreed title, but I’m thinking: Pegasus and the Rise of the Titans… What do you think?
I can’t tell you how great it is to be spending time with my favourite winged stallion again. I have missed him so much!
Now, you might wonder, ‘why is Pegasus going to Hawaii?’
Well, when I fist planned the book, I was going to set part of it in Boston. And since I was planning an American book tour – which included Boston, I thought it would work out perfectly that I could do research for the book and the tour. But then, Mother Nature had other plans. For the U.S. it was loads of SNOW, exactly where I was scheduled to go. For here in the U.K. it was RAIN and more rain and even more rain and gales – and floods – lots and lots of floods. Because of the rotten weather, the tour was cancelled. And so were my plans to set Pegasus in Boston.
Then my brother Rob, said, ‘why did you want to set the book in an area full of snow? Why not somewhere warm like Miami or Hawaii?’ – Hmmm… I wonder why he picked Hawaii – and then he offered to be my tour guide – Hey, thanks Rob, I know how much you would hate going with your sister.
So, next week, Rob and I are flying to Hawaii!
I promise this is work. I won’t enjoy myself one teeny weeny bit! I won’t go to the beach, go swimming or anything like that. It will be pure research. I am so excited! I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, hearing the sounds of Reindeer hoofs landing on my roof…
I promise to blog about the trip when I am back. And there will be lots of photos. And just like all my other trips, Pegasus will be coming with me. Just like he did when I went to Greece for research for Pegasus 4.
Here is Pegasus at the Acropolis in Athens – this was in Pegasus 4
And here he is at the Temple of Apollo at Delphi – This was in Pegasus 4
And here he is at the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounio – again, in Pegasus 4
Book 5 will be released early next year, but I promise it will be full of Hawaiian adventures.
BUT, if you are like me and are impatient, I’ve got a special treat for you. Not too long ago I was asked to write a Pegasus short story for a collection of stories all about animals. A good percentage of proceeds from this book are going to two animal charities: The Hastings and East Sussex RSPCA (Bluebell Ridge), and PAWS (Dogs for the Disabled).
If you know me, you know I really care about animals!
Isn’t that a great cover – OK, I admit it, my brother the illustrator did it (he’s the same brother who suggested I set Pegasus 5 in Hawaii) I love it. It’s as though Pegasus has opened his wings to protect all the animals.
In my Pegasus story, Pegs, Emily, Joel and Paelen take a trip to Hastings for some special candy called ‘Rock’ and as always, their simple plan goes wrong and the winged stallion causes an uproar!
There are so many wonderful animals stories in this book. They will all touch your heart. Not to mention all the illustrations inside.
If you would like to buy a copy of this book – it’s easy. Just visit the Hastings Writer’s Group website where you can order a copy from anywhere in the world.
https://kateohearn.com//hastingswriters.co.uk and look under Publications and you’ll find it there.
I hope you do get a copy and visit Pegasus and all the animal inside.
Now, I’d better get going.
Pegasus is waiting…
